Cape St. Claire Soccer – Spring 2012
The Cape Soccer program, available on the web at CAPESPORTS.COM by the Cape St. Claire Recreation Council, Inc. (CSCRC) of Annapolis, aims to teach children the skills necessary to play the game of soccer, impart a strong sense of sportsmanship and teamwork, and provide a fun athletic activity outdoors! Each season, the Cape fields 50-60 youth soccer teams with 600 - 650 players!
We offer soccer in the Fall, Spring, and Summer! Additionally, many county and travel teams play in local indoor winter leagues.
This Spring, all of the Cape's Clinic and County games are played on Sunday afternoons (starting after 12:30 or 1pm). Games start Sunday, March 24th and end Sunday, May 19, 2010.
Each player will receive a uniform. Shin guards are MANDATORY and must be provided by each player. Soccer cleats--NOT football or baseball cleats--are recommended for County level players. Soccer cleats are permitted for Clinic players.
Players will be contacted by a coach by the beggining of March to schedule weeknight practices. Teams will practice either once or twice per week on weeknights depending on age.
Requests:
For Clinic and Intramural age teams, players may request a particular coach or teammate during Player Registration in person or online. Requests will be honored at the discretion of the Cape Soccer Commissioner.
CLINIC PROGRAM:
The Cape's Clinic program is for players who are from 4 to 7 years old. Games are played on age-appropriate size fields at Cape St. Claire Elementary School:
Soccer Starters - forchildren born between September 1, 2006 and March 31, 2008 (approx.)
Registration Fee - $65
We will be changing the senior clinic format to a dual field 3v3 game format. Teams will continue to have 10 players (Boys and Girls) for four year olds. They will continue to practice once per week, as they have done this spring.
Junior Clinic - forchildren born between September 1, 2005 and August 31, 2006 (approx.)
Registration Fee - $65
We will be changing the senior clinic format to a dual field 3v3 game format. Teams will continue to have 10 players (Boys and Girls) for five year olds. They will continue to practice once per week, as they have done this spring.
Senior Clinic - forchildren born between September 1st, 2004 and August 31, 2005 (approx.)
Registration Fee - $85
Senior clinic format will continue to be a dual field 4v4 game format. Teams will continue to have 12 players (Boys and Girls). They will continue to practice 2 times per week, as they have done this spring.
THE DUAL FIELD APPROACH -
The change will be a positive in terms of:
1) Game time,
2) Touches on the ball (which is key at any level) for player development,
3) Learning the concepts of effective shape and distance around the ball,
4) Higher scoring games than in the past (plus no bored goalies), and
5) More FUN for this age group to boot.
An all around better program for player development and soccer FUN!!
Intramural (U8, fall only) - For children born between September 1, 2002 and August 31, 2003 (approx.)
Registration Fee - $85
Aseperate boys and girls program for 7-year-olds that introduces concepts of offense and defense. Teams will have approx. 11 players. Games are played 7-on-7 including a goalkeeper. A trained, paid Referee is provided.
This fall we will be playing teams from Mago Vista and BAYS, so we will have some travel up and down College Parkway. This should be very exciting for the kids and parents alike. I hope this works well and it makes for a good transition in County soccer.
COUNTYPROGRAM:
Registration Fee - $105 (with purchase of uniform), $65 if already owns uniform.
The County program includes separate teams for boys and for girls. The spring program, which is for players who are from 7 to 18 years old, is managed by the Anne Arundel Youth Soccer Association (AAYSA) and Anne Arundel County Dept. of Recreation & Parks. Teams in the County program travel to locations throughout Anne Arundel County. Directions are provided; transportation is NOT. Most of the Cape's County teams will play home games at Cape St. Claire Elementary School; however, some County teams may play all their games elsewhere. Players who have dental work must wear a mouth guard and eyeglasses must be secured to the head with a strap.
Travel/BBSL PROGRAM:
Registration Fee - $190 (with purchase of uniform), $110 if already owns uniform
The travel program includes separate teams for boys and for girls, where possible.
